Maturity

Last night at the track banquet, one of the seniors said, “thank you to the coaches. What you have taught us is about more than just running. It’s about maturity. We learned to do the full warm up, the entire workout, and cool down. We also learned not to wear sneakers to the banquet.” I loved this so much.

  1. Hi Amanda! Didn’t know where else to write this because I couldn’t find any other contact information (so I’m sorry that this is a comment on your running banquet blog entry), but I l-o-v-ed your essay about teaching on n+1. It’s not something that’s written about a ton, the isolation and need to be loved that high school teachers feel, the inherent contradictions of caring too much and the motivations to do so. The essay was both illuminating and heartfelt, and funny and sad. You’re very very talented, and I hope you keep on writing.

    • Thank you so much. I was really nervous about posting the essay, but reading comments like this one go a long way in making worries about exposure seem worth it.
